Mrs. L. S. N. (PIN NO - 10582), A 50 years old female visited our centre with the complaints of Lichen Planus. She had been suffering from Lichen Planus since the last 10 months. She had LP lesions on the hands, legs, buttocks, and the lateral side of chest. They were itching, blackish eruptions which left hyper pigmented marks. She had been taking conventional medicines since the diagnosis of her condition. Her dosage had been increased in the past 3 months. Still she could not get any relief from loads of steroidal intake.
She had a history of tuberculosis of the breast bone, which was detected 1 year ago. She was taking conventional treatment for this, since last 8 months. Probably this was a causative factor for her Lichen Planus.
She was also suffering from High cholesterol, and was taking medicines for the same.
Her appetite was average with craving for sweets. She was more tolerant to cold. There were no complaints with stools, urine, perspiration, thirst and sleep. There had been some irregularity in her menstrual complaints; probably it was pre-menopausal in nature.
She was a home maker. Her husband was a travel agent. She had 3 children; 2 daughters and 1 son. Her elder daughter was in the 12th standard, younger was in 10th standard and her son was in 7th standard.
In her past medical history it was noted that she had suffered from umbilical hernia 12 years back.
In her family her father had suffered from prostate cancer. When enquired about her nature, she described herself as soft spoken and reserved. She had good memory. Her temperament was calm. Her hobbies were drawing, painting, reading. When prodded for any major stress, she disclosed that her marital life had been a major stress. Her husband was short tempered, abusive and dominating. She used to feel inferior as he behaved as if women are inferior beings. She would stammer with fright when her husband shouted at her. The stammering was also seen in her elder daughter and son. Her children too would dominate her and behave rudely with her.
She wept, saying, “When husband insults in front of children, they also behave in the same way. “
Her case was analyzed in detail by Dr. Shah and she was prescribed Staphysagria 200C along with some research based medicine.
In the first follow up after 6 weeks, she reported 50% improvement in her Lichen Planus. The lesions located on the lateral side of the chest were completely cured. The lesions on the buttocks and both extremities also showed excellent improvement. The itching had reduced by 50%. At few places there were only hyper pigmented spots visible, no active lesion.
In the next follow up after 2 months, there was further improvement in the lesions. They were almost better by 75%. There was absolutely no itching. The hyper pigmented scars were fading as well.
After another 2 months of treatment she was almost better by 90%. The scars had also faded. There was no itching.
She visited our centre after 2 years for the treatment of her elder daughter for some skin complaint. When inquired about her Lichen Planus, she said it was completely cured.
