A young lawyer experienced 80% recovery in her Angioneurotic edema and Urticaria
Mrs. A. D. (Patient Identification Number - 18739), a 29 years old lawyer visited our Borivali clinic on 1st April, 2012 for the complaint of Urticaria.
She had been suffering from this since the last 2 – 3 years. Her first episode was triggered due to exposure to the strong summer sun. Now since 2 weeks she had a severe episode of angioneurotic edema. There was swelling around her eyes and lips with burning pain. There were rashes all over the body with severe itching. The triggering factors which could have contributed to such a severe attack were sun, prawns, chicken, and spa treatment, sudden change of temperature and sunscreen lotion.
She had not taken any medication for the hives. The swelling around her lips and eyes had started since the morning for which she did apply aloe vera gel but it did not subside.
Her appetite was average, but the meal timings were irregular. She preferred spicy and junk food. She preferred warm temperature.
She stayed with her husband. Her husband was a software professional. Her in laws were staying in a different city. Her mother had expired due to breast cancer and her father had also expired two years ago, due to ischaemic heart disease. Her younger brother was residing in some other area.
She was reserved and had very limited number of friends. She had recently changed her job profile and adjustment was stressful. She described herself as a ‘rebel’. She was of an independent temperament, and did not like being dominated. She used to have a good rapport with her father and brother, but less attachment to her mother.
Her case detail was studied by Dr. Shah and she was prescribed a research based medicine.
After 6 weeks medication she reported on 8th May, 2012 with 50% improvement in her edema. The itching had also reduced. The intensity had significantly decreased.
She reported on 11th June, 2012 with further improvement. She did not suffer from any major episode of severe urticaria except few mild flare ups. She was now gradually allowed to eat chicken, prawns etc. She was allowed to go out in the sun and based on her feedbacks, the dosage was modulated.
She reported on 27th August, 2012 after 4 months medication with 80% improvement in her Urticaria. She had not experienced any flare ups in the last 2 months despite exposure to the triggering factors.
She is still continuing with the medication to achieve complete cure of her ailment.
