31-years-old Mrs. U. N. S. (PIN 21635) visited our Santacruz branch to get her complaints of alopecia areata treated. She was suffering from alopecia areata since 2010. There were 2 big bald patches on her left side of scalp that were increasing in size. She was experiencing itching and burning sensation on the affected area. She had tried various dermatologist treatments and had gone for cortisone as well as minoxidil solution topically. She had lost all her confidence. She had started avoiding meeting her friends and social gatherings.
Also, she was diagnosed with underactive thyroid since 2010 for which she was taking conventional medication Tab Thyronorm 25 mcg once daily.
She was a vegetarian. She liked eating salty food and disliked sweets. She enjoyed a sound sleep. Her bowel movements were regular. Her thirst, sweat, and urine were normal.
She was a homemaker and lived with her spouse. She was irritable and anxious in nature. She was apprehensive, as she her first child had expired due to pneumonia. So, she had become possessive about her second baby. She said that this is when her alopecia areata started.
Her father suffered from high blood pressure and diabetes mellitus. Her mother had suffered from hypothyroid and high blood pressure.
Dr. Shah prescribed research-based medicines to her, after studying her case in detail.
The patient’s husband reported on 13th December 2013. Her hair fall had stopped. Her relief from itching on scalp and recovery from alopecia areata patch had started improving. There was new hair which had started growing on the bald patch. There was around 25% improvement in her condition. Her irritability had also reduced by around 50%.
When the patient visited on 4th February 2014, she was recovered completely. Her bald patch had recovered completely. Her irritability had reduced significantly.
The patient was very happy with the treatment. She had regained her lost confidence back, and she said,” Doctor, I feel beautiful again."
Conclusion:
This case highlights that homeopathy is quite effective in promoting hair regrowth and complete recovery in cases of alopecia areata.
