Mrs. M.R. (PIN: 25394) from the USA was experiencing a sudden electric shock-like pain in the right side of her face. She Googled her symptoms and was convinced that she was suffering from Trigeminal neuralgia. And, through her online search, she found Dr. Shah's website and consulted with a team of our online doctors who understood and analyzed her symptoms properly and diagnosed it as a case of Trigeminal neuralgia. She started treatment for her Trigeminal neuralgia in January 2018. She was experiencing mild sudden electric shock-like pains since September 2017 which gradually turned worse to the extent that the pain made her feel paralyzed and made her cry. She had random sudden zaps of attacks lasting from a few seconds to 1 minute. Her pain radiated from the right side nostril up through the gums, cheek, and then to the right side her forehead. She had learned to avoid the circumstances which would trigger her pain, for instance, blowing nose, washing her face the cold water, eating hard food, smiling, applying makeup, etc.
She had undergone a hysterectomy in the past for Fibroid in the uterus. There was a strong history of cancer in her family, her mother died from breast cancer, and her grandmother had breast cancer. Her father suffered from prostate cancer. All her 4 daughters are the patient of Celiac disease.
Her appetite had reduced due to her pain. Her sleep was sound with pleasant dreams.
She was homemaker, however, at the age of 58 years, she decided to step out of the home and started working as a secretary with her husband, who was Golf course superintendent. She has wonderful, good nostalgic memories of childhood. She started her dance lessons at the age of 3 and was eligible to join a professional ballet company, however, due to some circumstances, she was unable to continue of which still she feels bad. She had wonderful friends and had an opportunity to develop her talent in dancing, playing piano, art, and sewing. She was a happy-go-lucky person, however, due to her severe Trigeminal neuralgia pain, she had become more anxious and kept on thinking to what extent the condition may worsen.
Based on her case details, Sanguinaria-30 4 pills thrice a day for 4 months were prescribed to the patient.
Follow-Ups:
There was a little bit change in her pain when she reported on the 21st of May 2018. After starting the treatment, the pain changed from random electrical shocks to a longer sustained pain, which was almost easier to deal with. There were a few times when she had a short relief (up to a week) with no symptoms at all. She was also careful about how she eats, how she brushes her teeth, and how she applies the makeup, as she was still sensitive to the touch. Just talking animatedly or smiling would initiate a quick little zap. Dr. Shah prescribed the same medicines with an increased dose for the next 4 months.
On 18th September 2018, the patient informed she had experienced a major improvement in her pain. The frequency and intensity of her pain episodes before the treatment were horrific, she could only sit and cry until they were over. After starting the second treatment, she experienced about a week of sporadic pain which culminated in an extremely painful episode on 7th June 2018, after that she didn't experience any pain, but the right side of her face felt vaguely numb and stiffness, but it hadn’t interfered with her eating or smiling.
On 16th January 2019, the patient happily reported that she didn't experience a single pain episode since her last follow-up. Most of the numbness she was experiencing had disappeared as well. She is in a long-term remission period with Homeopathic medicines. Dr. Shah advised continuing the medicines for a few more weeks to keep the case under observation and to stop the treatment thereafter.
Conclusion:
The above case illustrates that a timely administration of Homeopathic medicines helps the patient to get rid of her dreadful Trigeminal neuralgia pain. Homeopathy treats trigeminal neuralgia effectively and safely without any side-effects. Dr. Rajesh Shah has been working on Trigeminal Neuralgia (and other diseases) since 1984. He has diligently studied, treated, and documented over 350 cases of trigeminal neuralgia using a homeopathic alternative. The results have been amazing and the patients have expressed gratitude.
