Mrs. M. M. (PIN 9825) walked in the clinic with the complaints of severe backache for over six months. Before starting with the treatment, Dr. Shah got her investigated for a perfect diagnosis. Her blood and scan reports led us to diagnose her case as that of Ankylosing Spondylitis.
She complained of severe back pain and pain in both the legs radiating from the hip joints to the thighs and knees.
She was suffering from severe weakness along with difficulty in walking. These complaints were present since 16 years, but they were more severe since the last 6 months.
She was on regular pain killers since 6 months, but they were not much helpful to her.
She was cautioned by her family physician regarding the pain killers. She was referred to Dr. Shah by an existing patient.
She stayed with her husband, 4 children, and her in-laws. Her husband worked in an MNC.
She described herself as an anxious and irritable person. She was very hard-working and sincere by nature. She had devoted her life for the family. Previously, her five brothers-in-law also stayed with her. Her husband, being the eldest, had responsibilities of the entire family.
She co-operated to stabilise and settle each of her brother-in-law. She was strict, disciplined, and would shout if they did not listen. She would hit her children, if they misbehaved or disobeyed. She said that managing the big family made her very exhausted and irritable.
Blood Investigations dated 3rd July 2006
ESR: - 80 mm per hour.
RA Test: Negative.
HLA B27: POSITIVE.
She was mildly anemic.
She was sensitive to the cold weather.
The patient consulted Dr. Shah. Her case was studied and evaluated in detail. Dr. Shah prescribed Sepia 30 C with Thuja 200 C, in varying doses, along with the research medicine for ankylosing spondylitis.
In 6 weeks of the treatment, her back pain was reduced by 20%.
In 4 months of the treatment, her dependency on the pain killers was reduced considerably. The difficulty in walking was also reduced.
Within 6 months of the treatment, the pain of the patient had reduced to a great extent so much so that she was able to discontinue all the pain killers. She was very happy and expressed her gratitude to Dr. Shah for her pain-free life. She is still under the care and treatment of Dr. Shah.
Conclusion:
This case highlights that homeopathy is highly effective in treating ankylosing spondylitis. Homeopathy helps the patient of ankylosing spondylitis lead a pain-free life without any dependency on painkillers.
