A 29-years-old naive, sensitive, and anxious, Mr. M. B. (PIN 12230) was successfully treated for Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Anxiety Neurosis with homeopathy.
He visited our clinic on 27th May 2009. He had been affected with I.B.S. from the last 4 years. His health had deteriorated and confidence was low. He had bloating, fullness, and constant pain and heaviness in the abdomen. He had unsatisfactory stools and frequent urge to pass the stools. His appetite was reduced with easy satiety of food. He had a weight loss of around 8 kilograms in the last 4 years.
He had associated complaints of weak memory. He would forget spellings. It was difficult for him to cope with the work pressures, so he had kept changing his jobs several times.
He also complained of the frequent cold, cough, and sore throat.
He liked the sour food. He had the habit of chewing paan 1 – 2 times/day. He was sensitive to the cold weather. His sleep was disturbed, and he dreamt of many past events, failures, and losses.
He was an MBA in marketing and was working in an esteemed IT coaching institute. He had left his job a few days back as could not cope with the work pressure.
His father was a retired headmaster. His mother was a homemaker. The elder sister was married and younger brother was studying.
He was an emotional and sentimental person. He had faced a setback in his business company, which he had started on his own. The impact of this failure was that he lost all hope and confidence. He felt despair and could not do anything. So, his symptoms of anxiety had started. He had another stressful situation in 2004 – 2005. He was betrayed financially by his close friend. He did not share this with his family and was under tremendous pressure.
He had suffered from typhoid in 2002. When he was in 4th class, he had suffered from tuberculosis.
There was no significant family history.
His case was studied in detail by Dr. Shah. He was prescribed some research-based medicine.
He reported again on 4th September 2009. Within four months of the treatment, he was 25% better. His relief from dullness and weakness had improved. The stool frequency had reduced to 2-3 times/day. His negative thoughts and anxiety did not find much relief. He was prescribed Silicea 200c as a constitutional medicine along with research-based remedies, after a review by Dr. Shah.
He reported again on 30th November 2009 with almost 90% improvement in his IBS. He did not experience any pain in the abdomen before passing stools. There was no urgency felt, and the gases and flatulence had reduced. His relief from anxiety was better. His confidence was better by 50%. He did not feel the weakness and dullness in the morning. He had developed recurrent aphthous ulcers in the past few months. All these symptoms were well-managed by timely administration of homeopathic medicines.
When he reported again on 27th November 2010, after a year's medication, his IBS was much controlled. His relief from anxiety was better by 50%, but it was still present. The insecurity, negative thoughts, and job stress could be relieved of to a certain extent.
After the subsequent year's treatment on 16th October 2011, the IBS was completely cured. His relief from anxiety was almost 90% better. Negative thoughts and insecurity were all reduced. He would feel refreshed throughout the day. There was no complaint of weakness. His weight had also improved with an increase in appetite. He felt confident.
He was very happy with the treatment. He said that he was in a shattered state of mind and body when he first came to Life Force. He further said that “With Dr. Shah's treatment and kind words, I have regained my strength and my confidence.”
Conclusion:
This case highlights that homeopathy is highly effective in treating anxiety neurosis as well as IBS successfully and safely without any side-effects.
