A 32-years-old lady, Mrs. M. J. B. (PIN 17637) visited Life Force Borivali clinic on 29th November 2011. She was accompanied by her husband. She complained of Asthmatic Bronchitis since 2003. The frequency of her complaints had increased since 2010. She would suffer from a spasmodic cough once in a month for 10 – 15 days. The expectoration would be thick and yellowish. She would suffer from breathlessness, loss of smell, and weakness with nausea. This would generally occur at night between 3 am to 5 am. Her complaints would also get aggravated before and after menses, by consuming oily food, and by lying down. She would feel relieved by sitting in the upright position. She would take antibiotics and steroid inhalers as and when required.
She had an average appetite with a liking for sweets. Her thirst would increase for the hot drinks during an asthma episode. She did not perspire much. She could not bear the cold temperature.
There were no complaints related to the menstrual cycle. She would have leucorrhoea after menses. She had a 1.5-years-old son.
She was an electronic engineer working as a manager. Her husband was working in the same company.
She was emotional and moody by nature. She would weep easily. She would get irritated if the things would not be organized. She was punctual and sincere in her work.
She had suffered from measles, chicken pox, and mumps in the past.
Her mother was suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes.
Dr. Shah studied her case in detail and prescribed Pulsatilla Nigricans 30c along with some research-based medicines.
She reported on 13th February 2012 with a mild improvement. She had 2 major episodes which needed the conventional medicines. The intensity was less as compared to the previous episodes. Her case was reviewed by Dr. Shah and medicines were upgraded.
She reported on 26th May 2012 with 50% improvement in her complaints. The frequency and intensity had reduced significantly. She did not require any antibiotics in these episodes, though the steroid inhaler pump had to be taken.
She reported on 30th August 2012 with a further improvement. She did not suffer from any major episode for the last 3 months. The inhaler pump would be required once in 15 days but not consistently.
After a year’s treatment, she reported on 25th November 2012 with 80% relief in her complaints. She did not require any inhaler for the last 4 months.
She was very happy to report this recovery and to get rid of the inhaler pump.
Conclusion:
This case illustrates that a great relief from the complaints and discomfort of asthma can be obtained with homeopathic treatment easily and safely without any side-effects and by eliminating the dependency on the inhaler and conventional medicines.
