Mr. B.H., 65 years old gentleman, reported having attacks of Trigeminal Neuralgia about twenty times a day for about three months. He was an established case of Trigeminal Neuralgia for ten years.
He was on high dose of Carbamazepine for all this years and his pain was fairly controlled. However, in last six months his pain became extremely unbearable despite the increased dose of 400mg, three times a day, amounting to 1200mg of Carbamazepine. He could not tolerate more dose as he had shown adverse effect in the past.
His pain would last for about half a minute. Pain as excruciating and very intense, twenty times a day.
He approached us for the homeopathic treatment His case was evaluated in detail. The line of treatment was determined based on the totality of his case, considering the nature, of pain, the factors which influenced, his emotions, etc.
The remedy was prescribed and the patient was called again after two weeks for review He reported over 50% improvement the pain, with regards to his severity and frequency of pain. The medicine was continued with revised power (potency) and was called again after four weeks. He reported significant pain relief. Now, he had pain only two to four time a day, that too, lasting for about five second, much milder in intensity.
We suggested him to reduce dose of Carbamazepine slowly.
After six months of treatment, we reduce the conventional medicine to 1/3rd and still having almost painless days or having painful attacks once a day. The patient is still under our care.
