A 33 yr old female (Patient Reference Number: 13329) reported to Life Force with severe hair fall since over six weeks.
She was losing more than 300 strands of hair per day. There was thinning of hair along with development of female pattern baldness. Her hair line was also receding.
She had delivered a baby boy 6 months back. The quantum of her hair was better earlier and throughout her pregnancy, but soon after delivery, there was enormous hair loss. This is known as telogen effluvium. The hormone oestrogen is responsible for good hair and glowing skin during pregnancy, but after delivery there is a drop down in the oestrogen levels which results in hair loss.
She had applied minoxidil 2 weeks ago, after which the hair fall had become more severe.
Her appetite was average with craving for eggs, chips and beef. She preferred cold weather. There was profuse perspiration on face.
She was also suffering from complaints of constipation.
Patient was working with a reputed firm as secretary.
Her personal life was very much stressed because of frequent conflicts with her husband. Her husband was very dominating. She was in a relationship prior to her marriage but as her parents were against this relationship she got married to her husband. There was feeling of repentance and disappointment. She was also dissatisfied with her work as well. She wanted to pursue higher education. There was intense fear of heights and water.
Based on the above history Dr Rajesh Shah,MD(Hom) prescribed her research based medicines. Dr Shah counseled the patient. Within about 8 weeks of starting the medication, her hair fall reduced from 300 strands/day to 70-80/day. Her medication was continued further and in next 4 months of treatment regrowth of hair was noticed in the frontal and temporal region with reduction of hair fall up to 15-20 stands per day.
Patient was very happy and she is continuing with the treatment for further hair regrowth.
