11 Years Chronic, Steroid-Treated Lichen Planus Patient Healed with Homeopathy
Lichen planus is a T-cell-mediated autoimmune disorder in which inflammatory cells attack an unknown protein within the skin and mucosal keratinocytes.
Symptoms of Lichen Planus Include:
-
Purplish-colored lesions or bumps with flat tops on your skin or genitals.
-
Itching at the site of the rash, which commonly appears on the wrists, lower back, and ankles.
-
Lacy, white lesions in the mouth, which may be painful or cause a burning sensation.
-
Blisters, which burst and become scabby.
-
Thin white lines over the rash.
A 24-year-old female patient, Miss. C. N. P. (PIN: 46524) visited the Vashi clinic of Life Force Homeopathy on 16th October 2021 with complaints of lichen planus which she had been suffering from since 2011. She was working as an associate consultant at a software company. She had active lesions of lichen planus on her hands, legs, thighs, back, and chest with itching. The lesions have been progressing since 2012. They had started from the feet, legs, and back, and now developed on the hands and right shoulder. Old hyperpigmented lesions on the legs, feet, lower back, and right shoulder were seen.
The patient had a history of steroids, which she had taken in 2019.
She was experiencing the current flare-up due to stopping Cortisone.
A biopsy done in 2012 revealed Lichan Planus – Reports were unavailable.
The patient had an associated condition of Allergic Rhinitis since 2015.
As per the family history of the patient, her mother was suffering from hypertension and her father had a fungal infection.
At Life Force, a detailed case-taking was done. Dr. Rajesh Shah prescribed some homeopathic medicines and dietic changes to the patient were suggested to stop all external application of ointment.
Follow-Ups:
At the follow-up on the 30th of November 2021, the patient’s symptoms were better. She got new small spots 2-3 times in the last month on her feet.
At the follow-up on 12th April 2022, the patient was overall better. Her recovery from the old lesions was better now. One small new spot on the feet with itching had appeared. No other new spot was observed. The hyperpigmentation on the skin had turned faint.
At the follow-up on 24th December 2022, no new lesion had developed. All old lesions had turned inactive, except for one spot on the left foot. No itching was present. Mild, hyperpigmented spots were present. The patient was overall 90% better.
Conclusion:
At Life Force Homeopathy, a progressive, 11-year chronic Lichen planus that was treated with steroids was treated successfully with homeopathy by stopping the progressive tendency of the disease and by reducing the hyperpigmentation effectively. Homeopathy can promote healing of skin affected with lichen planus naturally, gently, and safely without any side effects.
