54-Year-Old Teacher Overcomes Chronic Hand Dermatitis Through Homeopathy
Mrs. L.M.G., fifty-four years old, female, Patient ID: 50445, visited LifeForce Homeopathy''s Chembur branch for treatment of dermatitis in March 2024.
She had been suffering from small blisters and severe itching on her palms for five to six months. Despite using conventional medication, including Clobetasol ointment (applied locally), Tab Deflag 6mg, and Tab Montair LC daily since January 2024, her condition showed minimal improvement. The dermatitis was characterized by moderate severity with bilateral involvement of the palms, causing intense itching and recurrent blister formation that significantly affected her daily activities.
Additionally, she suffered from melasma over her face for four to five years, which had started from her cheeks and gradually spread to her forehead and nose bridge. She also had varicose veins in both lower limbs for ten years with slight bluish discoloration and swelling. Mrs L.M.G. was dealing with obesity as well, having gained approximately 50 kg over the past 25 years since her marriage.
Regarding her general symptoms, Mrs. L.M.G. had average perspiration and was ambithermal with sensitivity to drafts. Her bowel movements were satisfactory, and she had regular menstrual cycles after a period of irregularity. Her sleep pattern was sound, and she did not report any particular food cravings or aversions.
Mrs. L.M.G. works as a secondary teacher at JVM New English School in Kalva. She lives with her husband, with whom she shares marital harmony and a 25-year-old son.
She reported having a generally happy childhood, adolescence, and youth, feeling well-supported throughout these periods. She described her life as settled.
Her family history revealed that her father had suffered from diabetes and benign prostatic enlargement before his death, while her mother had hypertension. Her mother was also noted to be obese, suggesting a hereditary component to her weight issues.
Past medical history included an allergy to shellfish. Her blood pressure reading was elevated at 150/99 mm Hg, and her weight was recorded as 100.5 kg at the initial consultation.
Mentally, Mrs. L.M.G. was observed to be mild, clever, gentle, sober, and slightly arrogant. She exhibited affection and attachment in relationships but was also noted to be slightly insecure and introverted. Her intellectual faculties, including memory, logic, intelligence, perception, and analysis, were all considered good.
Dr Shah studied the case in detail and prescribed homeopathic medication Graphites 30c individualized to her specific symptoms and constitutional factors.
During the follow-up on April 8, 2024, Mrs. L.M.G. reported improvement in her dermatitis, with reduced itching, scaling, and blisters. She had reduced the application of Clobetasol to 2-3 times per week.
By May 22, 2024, her condition had improved significantly. The itching was much better, scaling and lesions on her hands were diminishing, and she had completely stopped using Clobetasol and other conventional medications.
The improvement continued during her visit on June 18, 2024, with occasional blisters healing on their own. She did report small eruptions on her arms with some itching but maintained that her overall condition was much better.
On July 6, 2024, Mrs. L.M.G. experienced a relapse with itching and eruptions reappearing on her palms and right hand. This flare-up was triggered by cutting vegetables with bare hands, resulting in blisters on her palms with skin peeling.
By September 12, 2024, there was marked improvement, with smooth skin and no active lesions on both palms. She was able to use soap and cut vegetables with her hands without any adverse reactions.
The October 21, 2024 follow-up showed continued progress, with only occasional tiny eruptions and minimal itching on her palms when using soap, which resolved on their own without treatment. There were no visible rashes or eruptions at the time of consultation.
At her most recent follow-up on February 1, 2025, Mrs. L.M.G. reported no flare-ups, rashes, or eruptions on her hands. She had only minimal contact issues and had stopped cleaning utensils or using soap with her bare hands as a preventive measure.
Overall, her condition showed excellent improvement after approximately 11 months of homeopathic treatment, allowing her to discontinue all conventional medications and manage her condition effectively.
