Case Study

A 29-year-old lady (PIN: 45697) approached Life Force Homeopathy, Jayanagar Branch on 3^rd July 2021 for the treatment of her complaints of Alopecia Areata that she was suffering from for 1 year.

She presented with a bald patch that stretched as a band on the back and top of her scalp (about 8-9cm in size). Another concern was that any new hair growing on the bald patch was turning grey. The bald spots were increasing in size and spreading gradually. She had generalized hair fall and was losing more than 100 strands of hair daily.

Her family history was asked to rule out autoimmune disease. Her treatment history was also asked and updated. The patient was using Minoxidil solution 2ml (local application) daily. She had taken steroid injections 5 times in the past 1 year. Her history of ailments was also asked about and updated.

A detailed case history was taken including both her mental and physical generals.

Physical Generals:

The patient was a non-vegetarian and had an average appetite. She had an average thirst and drank 2-3 liters of water daily. The patient was experiencing profuse perspiration, mostly on the face. She was intolerant to extreme cold weather. Her motion was satisfactory, and she had no urinary complaints as such. She enjoyed a sound sleep at night and preferred lying on the right side. Her menstrual cycle was regular.

Mental Generals:

The patient had a happy childhood with a well-supportive family.  Her marital relationship was satisfactory. She was a mild and gentle person. She was very sensitive and would get hurt easily. She would weep easily and mostly would weep when alone. She didn’t like sharing her emotions with others. She had a brooding nature and always took tension quickly. She was reserved and had very limited friends.

His intellectual sphere was checked and her memory and logic all were observed to be good.

Dr. Shah went through the case history in detail and prescribed medicines to the patient after analyzing the whole case.

Follow-Ups:

At the first follow-up on 4^th September 2021, there was no change in her symptoms. There was an increased hair fall, and the existing patches were increasing in size. She was applying Minoxidil solution once daily on the bald patches but stopped taking steroid injections once she started taking our homeopathic medicines.

During his second follow-up on 6^th November 2021, her hair fall had started reducing, however, no new hair growth was seen on the bald patches. The patient had stopped using Minoxidil solution on the bald patches.

By 13^th January 2022, the patient started observing new hair growth on the bald patches.

Further improvement was observed in the later follow-ups.

By 10^th May 2023, 80% of the bald patches were covered with new hair. Even the generalized hair fall had stopped considerably.
