Homeopathic approach towards allergic rhinitis
Mr. S.B. (Patient ID: 55663), a 33-year-old man, called the Life Force Homeopathy branch in Malleswaram from Bangalore to receive treatment for an allergy. For the past two years, he has had allergic rhinitis. Every six months of the year, he experienced bouts of persistent sneezing, eye-watering, coryza, and intermittent dry coughing. The problems were more common in the winter and were brought on by oily food, dust, and early mornings. For the past two years, he has been using an inhaler and allopathic medications. A child who had been cured of autism by Life Force treatment had referred him.
Allergic rhinitis is a condition where the immune system reacts to allergens in the air, leading to inflammation of the nasal passages. Common symptoms include sneezing, a runny or stuffy nose, itching, and watery eyes. This condition is often triggered by allergens such as pollen, dust mites, mold, or pet dander.
There are two main types of allergic rhinitis:
- Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis (Hay Fever): Occurs during certain times of the year, often due to pollen from trees, grasses, or weeds.
- Perennial Allergic Rhinitis: Occurs year-round, typically triggered by indoor allergens like dust mites, mold, or pet dander.
Physical Generals:
He is vegetarian with an average appetite and low thirst. His sleep is good, and his bowel movements are satisfactory.
Family History and Background:
He is a businessman staying with a wife and a daughter.
Mental Generals:
Based on observations he was quiet and very gentle, and he feels guilty about his daughter''s autism, which constantly affects him in his daily life.
After studying his detailed case history, he was prescribed constitutional medicines along with researched base molecules by Dr. Shah.
Homeopathy is a form of medicine based on treating like with like, where highly diluted substances are used to stimulate the body’s self-healing mechanisms. Allergic rhinitis homeopathy aims to address the underlying causes of the condition, such as immune system imbalance and individual sensitivities.
The approach to treating allergic rhinitis with homeopathy involves addressing the symptoms and the underlying emotional or psychological factors contributing to the condition. Homeopaths believe that each person is unique, and thus treatment should be tailored to their specific emotional, mental, and physical state.
Follow-ups:
By November 17, 2024, during his first follow-up, his sneezing was better comparatively, with no cough or wheezing. Also, the eye symptoms were very much better. He noticed slight throat irritation because of the cold weather. He had not taken any allopathic medicines for a month but used nasal spray once in a month.
On 12th January 2025, his sneezing was much better; he didn''t complain of throat irritation and had no cough or wheezing. He was not taking any conventional medicines. With homeopathy, slowly the frequency, duration, and intensity of complaints reduced.
The patient''s family thanked Dr. Shah and the entire team for the successful treatment within a short period, and he began to believe firmly in homeopathy
CONCLUSION:
In homeopathy, the treatment of allergic rhinitis aims to address both the symptoms and the underlying sensitivities that trigger the condition. When antihistamines are used to manage the symptoms, homeopathic remedies can be complementary to help reduce the frequency and severity of symptoms, controlling intensity and severity and addressing the root causes of the symptoms without giving any side effects.
