A 75-Year-Old Woman Experienced Relief from Gastritis at Life Force
Here is the case study of an elderly housewife with a healthy diet who has had gastritis for one and a half years.
Gastritis is the inflammation, irritation, or erosion of the mucosal lining of the stomach. The inflammation often results from infection with H.Pylori bacteria that causes most stomach ulcers or the regular use of painkillers. Drinking too much alcohol also contributes to gastritis. One may experience symptoms of upper abdominal pain or discomfort, indigestion, bloating, belching, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting. In severe damage, one may notice bleeding wherein one has to go ahead with surgery.
Mrs. K.S.B (Patient ID: 54206), came to the Thane Clinic of Life Force. She was a reference patient whose husband had received Life Force Homeopathy treatment and recovered. She complained of experiencing a dull pain in the upper left hypochondriac region once in 2-3 weeks, along with constipation on occasion, loud burping, and flatulence particularly aggravated by delayed meals and spicy foods. She also mentioned burning and irritation in the throat. She didn’t have any complaints related to taste. After two years, since her Gastritis complaints had started she had lost two kilograms, bringing her weight down to 50.9 kg from 53 kg. She was taking Tablet. Ganaton Total (Itopride and Pantoprazole) 1 tablet OD, Tablet. Colaspa SOS, Insta Raft Syrup (Calcium carbonate, Sodium alginate, Sodium bicarbonate) 10 ml TDS and Prepro IBS (Melatonin and probiotics)1 tab OD.
- Investigations:
- Date: 01.06.2023
- Endoscopy:
- Impression: Showed esophagitis, antral and duodenal erosion.
She suffered from Sleeplessness. Her quality of sleep was reduced; she was sleeping for 3-4 hours at night over the past year. She was taking Tablet. Zapiz (Clonazepam 0.5 mg) 1 tablet at night, 3 days per week (for the last 6 months).
She also presented with Cardiomyopathy which was stable with conventional treatment. She was on a Tablet. Dytor (Torsemide) 1 tab OD and Tablet. Rivaban (Rivaroxaban): 15 mg OD. She was operated on in 1972 for Atrial septal defect via open heart surgery.
At Life Force Homoeopathy a detailed case was taken and she was prescribed PULSATILLA-30.
She has explained the dietary guidance to support her recovery from gastritis and general health. She was advised to refrain from eating heavy, spicy, or acidic foods at least 2-3 hours before sleeping and to avoid caffeine. She was advised to drink enough water throughout the day. She was also instructed to opt for smaller meals at regular intervals to ease the digestive process and prevent acid build-up. Poor sleep can delay the healing of inflamed stomach lining, sleep is essential for tissue repair and immune function also sleep issues can weaken digestive function and increase acid production she was advised of some lifestyle changes to improve her sleep.
Follow up:
In her first follow-up dated 25th May 2024, she experienced some relief in her complaints. Her burning and irritation in her throat were less and the pain in her abdomen was getting better the intensity of pain was less but the frequency of pain was increased, she was having pain daily, and was quite continuous. She was prescribed medicines as per case need for the next 2 months.
By 1st July 2024, more improvement was noticed in abdominal pain, burning, and throat irritation. The daily pain was reduced to once in fifteen days. Her appetite still remained on the lesser side; there was no desire to eat food.
In her next follow on 21st August 2024 she was further better; she mentioned no throat irritation and burning. The abdominal pain was occasional and she had stopped taking Tablets. Ganaton Total (Itopride and Pantoprazole)
By 5th October 2024, she mentioned experiencing mild pain in the abdomen once in 8 days lasting for 5 minutes. Her appetite was improved and also her complaint of constipation was getting better.
In a subsequent follow-up dated 11th November 2024, overall 80% improvement was observed with good appetite, and mild pain in the abdomen occasionally and she was only on Homoeopathic treatment she had stopped all conventional treatment since October 2024.
Conclusion:
This case shows the efficacy of Homoeopathic treatment in the management of Chronic Gastritis. The Homoeopathic remedies targeted the underlying inflammation and erosion of the stomach lining and helped to strengthen the mucosal integrity thereby addressing the pain and indigestion symptoms of gastritis. Her appetite was improved and allowed her to enjoy meals again. There was a smooth transition to solely homeopathic treatment since the patient had stopped the conventional treatment without complications.
