Chronic Ulcerative Colitis improvement in short time With Homeopathy Treatment
Ulcerative colitis is a chronic, idiopathic inflammatory disease that affects the colon, most commonly affecting adults aged 30–40 years and resulting in disability. It is characterised by relapsing and remitting mucosal inflammation, starting in the rectum and extending to proximal segments of the colon.
Symptoms
Ulcerative colitis symptoms can vary, depending on how serious the inflammation is and where it happens. Symptoms may include:
- Diarrhea, often with blood or pus.
- Rectal bleeding—passing a small amount of blood with stool.
- Belly pain and cramping.
- Rectal pain.
- Urgency to pass stool.
- Not being able to pass stool despite the urgency.
- Weight loss.
- Fatigue.
- Fever.
- In children, failure to grow.
Types
Healthcare professionals often classify ulcerative colitis according to its location. Types of ulcerative colitis include:
- Ulcerative proctitis. Inflammation is confined to the area closest to the anus, called the rectum. Rectal bleeding that sometimes happens with difficulty having bowel movements may be the only sign of the disease.
- Left-sided colitis. Inflammation extends from the rectum up through the sigmoid and descending colon. Proctosigmoiditis is a type of left-sided colitis. Inflammation involves the rectum and sigmoid colon — the lower end of the colon. Symptoms include bloody diarrhea, belly cramps and pain, and not being able to move the bowels despite the urge to do so, called tenesmus.
- Widespread colitis. This is sometimes called pancolitis. This type often affects the entire colon and causes bouts of bloody diarrhea that may be severe, belly cramps and pain, fatigue, and significant weight loss.
Causes
The exact cause of ulcerative colitis isn't known. Previously, diet and stress were suspected, but now healthcare professionals know that these factors may worsen but don't cause ulcerative colitis. Possible causes may include:
- Immune system issue. One possible cause is an immune system malfunction. When the immune system tries to fight off an invading virus or bacterium, an irregular immune response causes the immune system to attack the cells in the digestive tract too.
- Genetic traits. Several genetic markers have been associated with ulcerative colitis. Heredity also seems to play a role in that the condition is more common in people who have family members with the disease.
Risk factors
Ulcerative colitis affects about the same number of women and men. Risk factors may include:
- Age. Ulcerative colitis usually begins before the age of 30. However it can occur at any age, and some people may not develop the disease until after age 60.
- Race or ethnicity. Although white people have the highest risk of the disease, ulcerative colitis can happen in any race. The risk is even higher for those of Ashkenazi Jewish descent.
- Family history. You're at higher risk if you have a close relative, such as a parent, sibling or child, with the disease.
CASE:-
Mrs. S. P. (Patient ID: 48847) visited the Life Force Homeopathy Branch on 3rd August 2022 for her chronic ulcerative colitis. She has been suffering from this for 18 years. It had relapsed for 6 months. At present, it is controlled with conventional medicines. The stool frequency would be 2 to 3 times a day with mucous.
She was reluctant to continue with conventional medicine considering her age and knowing all the side effects, so they decided to opt for homeopathy. She was on Tab. Tosanib 5 mg BD [Tofacitinib 5 mg], Rowasa Sachet 1g TDS [Mesalazine 1 g], Tab. Pantocid DSR OD [Domperidone 30 mg + Pantoprazole 40 mg], Tab. Shelcal D3 BD
Physical generals & personal details:
Her appetite was average with a well-controlled vegetarian diet. She had average thirst and perspiration. She could not bear the cold temperature. Her sleep was sound.
She runs a family workshop of exhaust fans with her husband. Her two sons are software engineers, and her daughter is a dentist. She had lately become stressed due to her family trouble and her health concerns.
There was no major illness in her family.
Her case was studied in detail by Dr Rajesh Shah; investigations were considered, and medicines were prescribed individually specific to her diet. Exercise was also discussed and shared.
Follow-Ups:
On 24th Sept 2022, in her first follow-up, the patient reported that she had an overall 50% improvement. She had mucus in her stools sometimes with loose motions. She was still on conventional medicine along with homeopathic medicines.
By 10th Nov 2022, the patient reported that she had further improvement with no mucus in stools and no pain now. She was still taking conventional medicines along with homeopathic medicines.
During the third follow-up On 21st Dec 2022, the patient reported that she was stable without any complaints even after tapering the dose of conventional medicines along with the homeopathic medicines.
On 1st Feb 2023, the patient reported that she was stable, had no complaints, and her conventional medicines were further tapered.
By 21st March 2023, no complaints of mucus or blood in stool. She passed stools 1-2 times/day. Her conventional dose was also reduced.
On May 4, 2023, she had no complaints. No mucus or blood in stools and was passing stool once a day.
In her last follow-up dated 16th June 2023, the patient was stable but for 10-15 days complaints had increased. The frequency of motions was 3-4 times/day, with mucus and blood streaks because of stress and a few dietary changes. She had a mango and some dry fruits once. But she took homeopathic medicines regularly, and her complaints were better.
Conclusion:-
With the help of a homeopathic treatment for a chronic disease, after taking homeopathic treatment, her symptoms were better, and after that, there was no recurrence, so it''s always a better option in such chronic cases to always start & opt for homeopathic treatment for symptomatic relief and to prevent further progress.
