Four-Year-Old’s Struggle with Recurrent Colds Eased by Homeopathic Remedies
A 4-year-old girl Ms. R.R (Patient ID: 53316) was suffering from recurrent colds and coughs which left her and her family in constant distress. For a year she was suffering from a recurring cold and cough. Her episode would start with a runny nose, and watery discharge alternating with a nose block associated with a fever that sometimes reaches 102, progressing to a dry cough, which would aggravate at night. Along with cold symptoms, she would get rashes all over her body causing more distress. The frequency of episodes was once a month and each episode would last for 8-12 days.
Her symptoms would aggravate with the slightest change in weather. Despite the use of cough syrups and antipyretics her symptoms would persist and would stay for 8-12 days. Adding to the complexity, the girl also had Atopic dermatitis known as eczema on her legs which was aggravated by friction from certain types of clothing and was better by the use of moisturizers.
The mother's concern was understandable given the family's history of respiratory issues, including her mother's recurrent tonsillitis and her grandfather's asthma. She believed that a holistic approach would help her daughter address the root cause of the disease, and because of this, she approached Life Force Homeopathy.
Dr. Rajesh Shah took a thorough medical history and a proper examination of the child was done. The child’s chest was clear, but her nasal turbinate’s were swollen, indicating chronic inflammation.
Follow-ups:
In the 1st follow-up dated 6th February 2024, she showed positive results, the frequency of episodes was the same however the duration of illness was reduced to 3-4 days and importantly her cough was getting reduced, the nighttime cough was mild and was persisting briefly after lying down.
By 2nd follow dated 24th April there was a significant improvement, she was better by 50% with just one episode of fever since she had traveled to a different city which was resolved with minimal basic medicine Calpol. Her symptoms of the cold were getting worse day by day, her runny nose was less frequent, and her nighttime cough was also not bothering her much.
After 2 months the results were quite evident, there were no major episodes she had of cold and cough, and had not taken any cough syrups or conventional cold medicines in the last 4 months. She did have one fever episode linked to a bout of loose motion and vomiting.
On 29th August 2024 parents were happy to update that the child was much better even though it was rainy season, the period usually when symptoms of cold and cough aggravate, and she didn’t have cold episodes.
Conclusion:
This case highlights the efficacy of holistic individualized treatment which effectively controlled the child's tendency to get frequent colds and coughs and importantly the dependency on conventional medicines was reduced. Also, she did not show signs of respiratory distress during the peak monsoon season, a notable improvement from previous years. Usually during the rainy season, the children are prone to getting respiratory infections but the tendency to have infections was completely addressed in the case of Ms.R.R
