From Sneezes to Smiles: Seasonal Allergy resolved
A 37-year-old male from Sector-9, CBD Belapur stepped into the Vashi branch of Life Force Homeopathy (Patient ID: 49906), on 26th November 2022 for his primary complaint of Allergic rhinitis with seasonal and environmental triggers. He was taking Tab. Prulastin (Montelukast and Bilastine) used SOS (as needed) for symptom relief which helped temporarily but had no long-term benefit. The patient was worried about the over-reliance on antihistamines and started seeking alternatives and opted for homeopathy for holistic and long-term management at Life Force.
The typical seasonal trigger was seen, symptoms occurred predominantly in winter. He was suffering over several winters, recurring annually. The primary complaints were sneezing 6-7 sneezes at a single time, often uncontrollably. The nasal symptoms included profuse watery nasal discharge and nose blockage during episodes. Apart from nasal complaints he also complained of lachrymation (watery eyes), redness, and irritation in eyes. There was persistent throat irritation during flare-ups. He also suffered from headaches which would get worse with sneezing and cold exposure. The symptoms would get most severe in the early hours for around one hour. The symptom flare-up was seen after consuming cold items like ice cream and after prolonged direct exposure to AC.
Apart from Allergic rhinitis he also suffered from Diabetes, Hypertension and high cholesterol for which he was on conventional medicines.
Physical generals:
He has an average appetite, including both veg and non-veg, and has an aversion to cauliflower, cabbage, and sweets. The patient had an excessive thirst for 4 liter/day and also he perspired profusely. There were no complaints of bowel movements and micturition.
Physical Constitution: Average build; non-smoker; moderate alcohol intake socially.
Mental generals:
The life profile of the patient seemed to be quite happy and well-supported. By profession, he was doing a private job in a finance company. In the mental sphere, the patient was mild, gentle, clever, and polite but at the same time, he was non-communicative and reserved.
Physical examination: Redness of eyes, nasal congestion, and throat irritation observed. The weight of the patient was 87 kg, BP-130/90mmHg, and pulse rate 82/min.
The individualized treatment plan initiated, based on the totality of the case was prescribed with Dr. Shah’s research-based medicines. The goal of homeopathic treatment was to boost immunity and reduce hypersensitivity to allergens. He was also encouraged to avoid cold and processed foods. He was advised to maintain warm surroundings in winter.
Follow-ups:
During his first follow-up on 18 January 2023, he was 60% better, the frequency, duration, and intensity of episodes had reduced a lot and the patient was not taking any conventional medicine for 6 weeks. The bout of sneezing was reduced, and watery nasal discharge and lachrymation all were significantly improved. The redness of my eyes and headache was much better. There was no fever, no cough, and no chest congestion. As per the case, the medicines were revised for further improvement.
During his second follow-up on 27 February 2023, the patient’s symptoms like sneezing, and watery discharge were triggered suddenly for 15-20 days, but the patient hasn’t taken any conventional medication. The environmental factor might be the reason; his case was re-evaluated and he was advised to take new medicines prescribed by Dr.Shah.
During his third follow-up on 16 April 2023, the patient was better by 60-70%. No episodes of sneezing or nasal watery discharge were present for the past month.
During his last follow-up on 1 December 2023, the patient was completely better. There were no symptoms of sneezing and nasal discharge, but a mild headache occasionally occurred. There was no lachrymation and no redness.
Conclusion:
Through individualized remedies and research-based medicines by Dr.Rajesh Shah, the root causes of the condition, including immune system reactivity and environmental triggers were addressed. The patient no longer suffers from allergic rhinitis; the treatment not only alleviated the acute symptoms but also improved overall health, providing lasting relief.
