From Steroid Dependence to Complete Healing With Homeopathy

Mr. SG(PIN: 45315), a 34-year-old male from Rajasthan, approached us in the month of May 2021 with complaints of a burning sensation with white lacy lesions over the buccal mucosa, upper palate, and gums for the last three to four months. A biopsy had confirmed it as oral lichen planus by his dentist.

He has been applying a steroidal local application (Comcort gel) twice daily for the last 2 months. He had also taken oral steroidal medication (Tablet Omnacortil 10 mg) for 2 months at onset and stopped.

Personal details:

He was fond of spicy food but did not have any sort of addiction in any form.

His family consisted of his parents, wife, and four-year-old son. The patient was of a reserved type, closely attached to his family, and conscientious by nature.

He was a civil engineer by profession and held a government job which was many times stressful due to constant fieldwork, but nevertheless, satisfying for him.

His parents both had diabetes mellitus and his mother also had hypertension, both of them were stable with conventional medication.

Based on his case details, Dr. Shah prescribed homeopathic medicines for eight-week duration. He was also guided about few changes in diet and lifestyle habits. He was also advised few investigations.

Follow-ups:

At the first follow-up on the sixth of July 2021, the patient mentioned the burning sensation though present was reduced in severity and the white lesions on the buccal mucosa had reduced. He was advised to taper the steroidal local application (Comcort gel) and was guided accordingly. He had been already explained

the effects of tapering and stopping steroidal medications. Also, his blood reports showed a deficiency of Vitamin B12, so he was advised to supplement for it.

Based on his follow-up, he was again prescribed homeopathic medicines by Dr Shah for a further eight weeks.

At the next follow-up on the twenty-eighth of August, there was a mild relapse of a white lesion on the right buccal mucosa and the burning pain, which was expected as the steroidal gel was tapered and stopped gradually as advised to him. He was suggested to apply Lox 2% gel for relief on the areas. Based on

his follow-up, Dr Shah prescribed his research-based homeopathic medicines for a further eight weeks.

On the tenth of October 2021, the patient gave his next follow-up, mentioning 30% relief from burning pain and reduction of the white lesions on the left buccal mucosa. Accordingly, the next course of medicines was suggested.

Further follow-up on the eighth of December 2021, the patient happily mentioned 60 to 70% relief from the burning sensation and the lesions had also reduced in all affected areas. Based on his follow-up, he was prescribed by Dr Shah for a further duration of eight weeks.

The patient had an episode of mild pharyngitis and was advised of higher antibiotics by a local physician, for which the patient contacted us for advice. On taking details of his complaints, he was advised to refrain from antibiotics and to take antipyretic and other measures for relief. He was already explained about the effects of antibiotics, painkillers on lichen planus and so was careful not to take necessarily. Later, the patient updated he had recovered completely and was not required to take antibiotics.

After about six months of further treatment on the ninth of July 2022, the patient had further improved in terms of the lesions and burning pain. Very rarely he used to get a burning sensation, especially after green chilly-based spicy food. He was advised to avoid till complete recovery. Based on his follow-up, he was prescribed further by Dr Shah.

After a further four months on the twelfth of December 2022, the patient mentioned all his complaints were 80% reduced and he was also able to eat spicy foods with green chilies although he was advised to refrain from it till complete recovery.

After a further two months on Feb 2023, there was complete healing of his lesions and only post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation was left. He was advised to continue further and prescribed accordingly by Dr Shah.

On the nineteenth of September 2023, the hyperpigmentation had reduced on buccal mucosa by 20-30% and there was no complaint of burning pan. He was further prescribed by Dr Shah.

After a further two months on eighteen of December 2023, the patient was happy to show that hyperpigmentation had so much reduced that the buccal mucosa was looking nearly as pink as was earlier. He was prescribed further by Dr Shah.

Also, the patient started our homeopathic treatment for his wife for her chronic complaints as well.

After further four months of treatment, the improvement has been stable with no active lesions, no burning and very negligible hyperpigmentation. The patient is enjoying his spicy food with green chilies, however, he has been advised not to overindulge.

This case shows the amazing healing powers of homeopathic medicines prescribed by Dr Shah, which not only completely healed the active lesions but also lightened the post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Also to be noted, the patient had been taking our online treatment for the entire duration of his treatment, and not once had he visited. It shows the excellent success of online treatment provided by Dr Shah for patients living far away and who could not visit.
