From Suffering to Smiling! 12-year battle with Lichen Planus ended With Life Force treatment
Lichen planus is characterized by small, isolated, polygonal, flat-topped papules that might sometimes gather into rough, scaly plaques.
It is a recurring, bothersome inflammatory eruption, most commonly seen in oral and genital areas. However, modern medicine has a suppressive approach to treatment along with several adverse effects, which is why patients often seek other options like homeopathy. Sharing a case of LP that was successfully treated with homeopathic medication with no new spots.
CASE STUDY:
A 34-year-old patient (Patient ID: 39859) consulted at the Life Force Malleswaram branch, Banglaore, on 10th April 2019 with lichen planus. She had been suffering from Lichen planus for 12 years. On examination, we found that she had purple-colored lesions over her hands, legs, back, and chest.
During the initial consultation, a comprehensive case history was taken, focusing on physical and mental state.
Physical Makeup:
The patient had a mixed diet; her appetite was average. She craved spicy food, chicken, and dairy products. Her bowels and sleep were satisfactory.
Her menstrual cycle was 28-32 days of cycle with 5 days of bleeding. There was a history of ectopic pregnancy in Nov 2019.
Family History and Background:
Her father was suffering from diabetes and hypertension, and her mother had osteoarthritis.
Mental State:
She is a homemaker. She is talkative, irritable, loving toward family and close friends, and inclined to cry. Fears enclosed spaces, airplanes, elevators, water, heights, and darkness. She had some problems with her husband and in-laws, which made her married life a little disappointing.
After studying her detailed case history, she was prescribed Sulphur Iod
Follow-ups:
By June 15, 2019, two months after starting medication, the old lesions had not changed, and a few new lesions had appeared on the hands and legs in the previous few weeks. More changes were made to the medications.
By November 11, 2019, the thickness of the old lesions had decreased and they were becoming flat and dry; however, tiny new lesions continued to appear on the ankle, shoulder, and wrist.
By January 17, 2020, there were no new lesions visible; the old ones were healing, and some of the lesions that had healed left hyperpigmentation marks. She added that she had been itching more for the past 15 days. The medications were changed as necessary.
By March 26, 2020, the itching had subsided, no new lesions had appeared, and there had been a 50% improvement. There was still hyperpigmentation.
By July 4, 2020, the patient had improved by 60%.
The patient was stable, no new lesions were visible, and the hyperpigmentation was gradually going away by September 8, 2020.
She was doing better with stability in her condition in the follow-ups that followed.
In the interim, the treatment was discontinued because the patient became pregnant. When we inquired on October 21, 2023, she mentioned her lesions had completely healed with no visible scars. She thanked Dr. Shah and the entire Life Force team for treating her lichen planus, from which she had been suffering for 12 years, and for providing relief in just 3 years with homeopathy.
Conclusion:
This case demonstrates the effectiveness of homeopathic medicines in managing long-term Lichen Planus effectively.
