Homeopathy Restores Confidence in a Man Battling Alopecia Areata
Mr Naveen, a 35-year-old man (PIN-54394), visited Life Force Malleswaram in April 2024 with concerns about unexplained hair loss. He reported that approximately four months earlier, he had noticed small, round patches of hair loss on his scalp, particularly on the apex and back regions. He also observed slight hair thinning on his chin (beard area). The hair loss had occurred suddenly and was accompanied by a tingling sensation and mild itching around the affected areas. He had multiple bald patches on the scalp of small and moderate-sized approximately 5 patches on the scalp. He mentioned losing over 100 hair strands per month but denied experiencing pain, inflammation, or scarring. Three months prior, he had received 1-2 doses of a steroidal injection, which he had since discontinued. He had not used any topical treatments and had not experienced any other significant health changes or recent traumatic events or illnesses.
Physical generals:
The patient follows a mixed diet and has an average appetite with no specific food cravings. His urinary function was normal, and his bowel movements and sleep were satisfactory.
Mental generals:
He was naturally anxious but gentle by nature. At times, he became slightly frustrated with his family, especially due to the stress of commuting by bike and managing a demanding workload. He worked for an MNC in the city. He lived in Bangalore with his wife, a homemaker, and their 2-year-old child.
Based on the case details PHOSPHORUS 30 was prescribed along with Dr. Shah’s research-based medicines for Alopecia areata for duration of 8 weeks. Also, he was guided to do some blood tests like Thyroid function tests, Vitamin D and Vitamin B12, and Iron, since deficiencies or hormonal fluctuations act as maintaining causes in the recovery if they are not addressed.
Follow-ups:
After 8 weeks of medicines in his first follow-up dated 9th July 2024 mild regrowth was seen in the scalp as well as in the beard area. The hair fall which he complained earlier of around 100 strands per day was reduced to 50-60 strands per day. Overall there was steady and positive improvement. His case was reviewed online by Dr.Shah and necessary changes were made in a prescription for further improvement.
It was again reminded to the patient about the importance of blood tests and advised to get the blood work done. On 10th July he did the blood work which showed his Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D was on the lower side. He was prescribed Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 supplements and advised to start with new homeopathic medicines which were prescribed as per the case need.
In his next follow-up dated October 6, 2024, the patient showed significant progress in hair fall; new hair has come on the scalp and beard area, almost covering the entire scalp. There are no new patches anywhere on the scalp and the patient started showing confidence.
In summary: In conclusion, this case demonstrates the effectiveness of homeopathic treatment, as the patient recovered swiftly and without experiencing any negative side effects. The importance of a holistic approach in such auto-immune conditions is demonstrated by the fact that when homeopathic medicines are used precisely, they not only helped with bald patch regrowth but also with reducing the emotional distress related to his physical condition. This patient's rapid and side-effect-free recovery from alopecia areata serves as an example of the potential of homeopathic treatment.
