LPP Recovery Story of a Paint Business Owner from Chennai
A 53-year-old paint company owner from Chennai(Patient ID:31864) had a chat with one of our medical team doctors online on 17th April 2017, sent pictures via email, and spoke with a doctor over the phone about his chronic pigmentation issues, which were determined to be Lichen planus Pigmentosa.
He had areas of hyperpigmentation on his neck, ears, and face. There was mild burning and itching in the dark, hyper-pigmented areas. Before coming to Life Force, he had tried every kind of treatment imaginable; including allopathic, homeopathy, and Ayurveda treatment but regrettably, none of them had worked for him. His hyperpigmentation started on his ears and side locks and later extended to his face and neck. When he approached us, his pigmentation was stable. The biopsy confirmed LPP, and the patch test was positive for dye allergy. The probable cause for his LPP may be the use of hair dye, which he used every week for the last 15 years, and the fact that he was under financial stress for almost a year, 4 years back. Since chronic stress affects the immune system and causes hormonal imbalances, which can trigger auto-immune responses and cause diseases like LPP, it is important to check in every case if there is any history of stressful situations before the origin of the disease or during the illness since stress can also exacerbate the physical conditions.
Physical generals:
He had a mixed diet with an average appetite. He craved for salty foods, fruits, fish, and milk. His thirst was normal; he drank around 2-3 liters per day. He had a habit of taking alcohol however it was occasional once in a while. He was intolerant to hot weather and perspired a lot, especially on his palms and soles. His bowel movements were normal and also he didn't have any urinary complaints.
Mental generals:
He was naturally a perfectionist, paying great attention to even the smallest details, and displayed a strong sense of fastidiousness. Being an introvert, he was not very social and preferred to be by himself. Despite running a prosperous paint company, he led a modest and uncomplicated life, preferring simplicity to luxury. He tended to overthink and was frequently nervous, but this also made him meticulous in his work. He was a person of quiet strength and integrity, and his modest demeanor and preference for simplicity demonstrated his grounded outlook on life. He was anxious by nature since childhood, whenever he was anxious especially while performing, giving speeches, and presentations he felt the sensation of hot flushes ascending up towards the neck and face which would last for 10 minutes. Also felt as if the head is hot and boiling with palpitations. He was lot conscious about his looks.
Family history:
His mother suffered from Diabetes and his father had complaints of High cholesterol apart from them all others were keeping good health.
Dr.Shah prescribed THUJA-OCCIDENTALIS-30 along with his research-based medicines for LPP. He was properly counseled about the scope, prognosis, and duration of Homoeopathic treatment in his case. The patient had been explained about the nature of the disease, the auto-immunity, and how homeopathy will work. Apart from that few investigations were advised to check for any deficiencies and hormonal fluctuations both of which are important to monitor in chronic long-standing diseases like LPP.
Follow-ups:
By his first follow-up dated 13th June 2017, the patient reported hyper hyper-pigmented patches were stable with a minimal improvement of around 3-5%, also patient mentioned that his burning and itching on hyper-pigmented patches had completely stopped.
Following the next 3 months, his patch remained the same, with no sign of further improvement but also at the same time the hyperpigmentation was stable. Since there was no major difference the medicines were revised.
After 4 months of revised medicines, on February 8 2018 there was a little bit of difference of around 1-2% and this time patient was more worried since he had been on medications for almost 8 months and he had not seen a major difference. His case was reviewed and along with previous medicines, the other remedy was added and it was informed patient to keep us posted.
With continued treatment for around 1 year on 23rd March 2019 patient reported an improvement of around 25%, and the intensity of pigmentation was reduced.
After the next 1 year of treatment by 12th February 2020, his pigmentation had become lighter. Though there were no major changes in his pigmentation he was counseled about the nature of the disease and was advised to continue the treatment.
After almost 3 years of treatment, he started to show good results. Since he was showing slow but constant results he continued the treatment.
In his recent feedback dated 29th October 2024, after continuous 7 years of Homeopathic treatment, he is better by 80%. The overall texture and health of his skin improved, with less irritation and sensitivity. He experienced no new flare-ups or pigmentation, which indicated long-term healing.
The patient expressed profound relief and satisfaction with the treatment, especially after years of struggling with limited progress. He noted that the holistic approach not only resolved his physical symptoms but also allowed him to address the emotional roots of his condition. His experience emphasizes the impact of integrated care, particularly when dealing with conditions like LPP, where both physical and mental health factors play a significant role.
With continued mindfulness, lifestyle adjustments, and protective measures, the patient's prognosis is very favorable. The combined physical and emotional improvements suggest a low risk of recurrence, and his newfound resilience is likely to support him in managing any future stressors effectively.
He is continuing with the treatment for further improvement.
Conclusion:
This case highlights how homeopathic treatment can aid in the treatment of chronic long-standing auto-immune diseases like LPP. In addition to alleviating the physical symptoms of LPP, such as hyperpigmentation, burning, and itching, homeopathy also improved mental clarity and emotional resilience, which helped in overcoming stressors and promoting physical healing. Importantly, the patient's confidence and self-esteem returned as his skin returned to its natural texture.
