Mumbai Lab Technician Overcomes Varicose Vein Challenges
Mrs. BHNJ, a dedicated lab technician, visited the Life Force Homeopathy clinic in Chembur on 3rd February 2024, for the treatment of varicose veins. She explained for the past 2-3 months, she had been struggling with persistent dull pain in her calves, which worsened whenever she tried to walk fast. It was a constant reminder of the stress her legs endured daily. She also complained of night cramps in her calves, describing how sharp, pulling cramps would jolt her out of sleep, leaving her clutching her legs in pain.
Mrs. BHNJ experienced a burning sensation in her soles, making it hard to relax even at home; it felt as if her feet were on fire. The veins were not just painful; they also caused itching around the affected areas. Scratching only made the irritation worse, causing further discomfort. A careful clinical examination revealed mild swelling around her feet and the veins in her legs were visibly tortuous.
She had associated complaints of recurrent sinusitis and cervical spondylitis. She was K/C/O hypertension which was under control with conventional medication.
Physical generals:
She was an average structured woman with a mixed diet, an average appetite, a desire for sweets, and an aversion to sour food. Her thirst was average, and she drank about 1-2 liters of water daily. She could tolerate hot and cold equally and perspire moderately. Her bowel movements were satisfactory, but she used Ointment Pilex whenever she complained of burning or pain after stools and had no urinary complaints.
Mental generals:
She was mild and soft-spoken and throughout consultation, she had a smile on her face. She appeared to be very expressive, confident, polite and well-mannered. Sometimes she expressed her anger when someone didn't listen to her.
Family history:
Her mother suffered from Diabetes and hypertension and her father also suffered from hypertension.
Dr.Shah prescribed SILICA 30 along with his research-based medicines for varicose veins.
The proper scope of Homeopathic treatment was explained to the patient in the initial consultation, she was made aware of how homeopathic remedies can help to give symptomatic relief and prevent further complications but also made to understand the limitations of homeopathy specifically about the appearance of tortuous veins since the patient must have the realistic expectations about cosmetic outcomes. It was explained that further changes in veins can be prevented but will not help in the complete reversal of vein enlargement.
She was advised to avoid prolonged standing and sitting and to elevate her legs regularly to improve blood flow to her legs. She was instructed to maintain a healthy weight to reduce pressure on veins and to exercise daily, focusing on walking or light leg stretches. She was asked to wear stockings for support.
Follow up:
In her first follow-up dated March 23, 2024, she reported that she is feeling better. The pain on long-standing was better by 60 %.On clinical examination swelling around her feet was reduced. She still complained of cramps in her legs.
After subsequent 4 months of treatment, her pain was around 90% better. She also mentioned that her night cramps are getting better. She was able to concentrate on her work, which demanded standing for a longer period.
In her recent feedback dated 15th November 2024, after continuous 9 months of Homeopathic treatment, she is better by 95%. Her pain and swelling were better with mild flare-ups after exertions.
The patient is extremely thankful for the homeopathic treatment; she is able to do her work with dedication and efficiency. She is continuing with the treatment for further improvement and for preventing recurrences.
