No More Hospitalizations: Homeopathy’s Role in Treating Enlarged Adenoids
A small boy Mast ANK (Patient ID:52718) came to us with complaints of recurrent attacks of coryza and sneezing; cough with excessive expectoration; recurrent nose blockage alternating with runny nose with redness of eyes, along with snoring, nasal speech and mouth breathing day and night was present with dry lips.
Parents were very anxious and were worried about the recurrent frequency with which the patient was falling ill with lowered immunity. The frequency of recurrent attacks was almost 5-6 times every year where each episode of running nose with nose block and cough lasted for at least 6-7 days. Gradually the complaints progressed to such an extent that the patient started with complaints of difficulty in breathing at night along with snoring and mouth-breathing, this led to typical Adenoid facies appearances in the child which refers to a long, lean face with a slightly open mouth. A patient typically developed an arched palate with underdeveloped upper jaw bones, a short upper lip, elevated nostrils, and dental crowding of the front teeth. These facial features result from mouth breathing from chronic nasal obstruction which can be seen in young children whose bone structure is still developing. Allergies run in the family; the mother has allergic rhinitis.
Physical Examination:
Appearance of the child: Mouth breathing, adenoid facies.
Nose: Bilateral nasal obstruction with swollen and congested nasal mucosa.
Ears: No signs of otitis media or fluid in the ears.
Follow-ups:
In his first follow-up on November 18, 2023, the patient was not at all better in the first feedback; in fact, the patient was hospitalized for an H1N1 Influenza A virus infection.
Daily snoring and frequent episodes of sneezing with running nose and nose block were the same complaints in the second and third follow-ups.
The patient was finally much better in April 2024, nearly six months after beginning treatment; additionally, the frequent hospitalizations that occurred at the beginning of treatment were much less frequent after starting homeopathic treatment, and the patient's reliance on repeated anti-biotics use was decreased.
Also, the patient’s height and weight gradually increased, and developed a healthy appetite as his immunity improved.
The patient's symptoms of a running nose and a nose block were undoubtedly present, but they were much less severe than they had been previously; in particular, the child's complaints of dyspnea or difficulty breathing significantly decreased, allowing him to participate in extracurricular activities and school events. The parents' anxiety was significantly reduced since he was doing much better, and blood reports suggested lower levels of Sr.IgE and Eosinophil clinically supported the improvement in symptoms.
After a year of treatment, the patient was finally much better and no longer had frequent complaints of colds, coughs, or noseblocks. The child's overall growth and development are healthy, and while the snoring is still occasionally present, the other complaints have significantly decreased.
Conclusion:
The above case underscores the efficacy of Homeopathy in treating Adenoids. Homeopathic remedies effectively alleviate symptoms associated with enlarged adenoids and regular treatment helps prevent complications. Homeopathy offers a non-invasive alternative to surgery, avoiding risks and costs associated with surgical procedures.
