The School Teacher's Gout Pain Relieved With Homeopathy
Mr. S.B.C., a forty-nine-year-old male and a school teacher for the past twenty-five years from Bhiwandi, walked into the Life Force Homeopathy clinic at the Thane branch, seeking relief for his gout diagnosed eight years ago. For the past year, he has experienced distressing pain in the great left toe along with swelling in the left ankle joint for three months and gets low-grade fever during episodes (Patient ID: 53729). He informed of having daily mild pain for 3 months and 4 to 5 severe episodes/month, each lasting 4-5 days, making it difficult for him to perform his duties. The severity of the pain was moderate to severe. The prolonged hours of standing and physical exertion worsened his pain. He had to walk 2 km daily to reach his school. Slowly and steadily, his mobility of the toe had reduced, and his daily activities became a painful task for walking with chappals. The pain was better by applying pressure and hot application. The pain increased with overexertion and in the winter season. He also complained of stiffness of fingers and toes in the morning lasting for 2 hours. He also mentioned that tingling in fingers and nodule formation were evident on examination. For 1 year he was taking Tablet Demol (diclofenac and paracetamol) 3 to 5 times a month.
Past medication taken:
1. Tab fabusat 1 tab OD (2018)
2. Tab zylotic 1 tab OD (2021)
3. Homeopathy (2022)
Investigation: Uric acid (11.02.24)- 10.78 H mg/dl
Family History: Father had osteoarthritis
Past History: Had undergone Fistula-in-ano surgery
On Examination: Tenderness and swelling in the left ankle joint.
Dr. Rajesh Shah prescribed Colchicum 30 after studying the case. Certain dietary changes were advised, and regular follow-ups were taken.
Follow-ups:
Follow-up (26.03.24): Reported 30 % better in daily morning pain and stiffness in the toes; hand-finger pain has reduced; swelling of the toes
was less, and did not take any painkillers.
Follow-up (16.05.24): There was a 50% improvement in symptoms. The patient reported that pain and stiffness in the toes in the morning were
significantly reduced, and there was no swelling in the joints.
Follow-up (27/8/2024): There was an increase in pain and stiffness in the great toe; was unable to wear sandals for 2 months. The swelling of the ankles had reduced. This exacerbation was attributed to the rainy season. He took painkillers—Tab Enzoflam BD for 4 days, then took Demol 500 BD for 3 days, 3 times/month, then went to the family doctor and took painkillers for 5 days and got little relief. Again, mild pain was noticed, so he started taking Calpol BD for 3 days. After that, pain and swelling had reduced.
By 16/7/2024-S.Uric acid:7.5 mg/dl.
Follow-up (10.12.24): The patient reported feeling better overall in his complaints, with pain in the left great toe subsiding. No swelling
was reported. The patient continued to take Demol once every 15 days.
Follow-up (22.01.25): A significant improvement was noted, with the patient reporting 80% recovery. There was no pain, and there was no swelling on the joint. He was taking a tab. Demo once/25 days.
He is continuing with the treatment for further recovery.
Conclusion:
This case illustrates how Life Force Homeopathy treatment significantly reduced the symptoms of gout. Despite sporadic flare-ups brought on by dietary and seasonal changes, the patient''s condition improved steadily and gradually. The patient had longer stretches of symptom-free living as the need for painkillers decreased over time.
