A 48-years-old fisherman, Mr. RSK (PIN 29902) visited Life Force Vashi clinic on 28th September 2016 for the treatment of vitiligo.
Mr. RSK first noticed hypo-pigmented spots on his fingers of both the hands and left wrist in 2015. Hypopigmented spots started appearing gradually when he was going through a lot of stress related to his daughter's health. He tried applying some topical steroid cream prescribed by the dermatologist but he observed no change and no expected effect after using it.
There was no significant past history of any major illness. His father, brother, and sister suffered from obesity and his mother was hypertensive. There was no family history of vitiligo.
He would prefer both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. He used to like to eat fish and spicy food, and he had aversion to milk. He was sensitive to extremes of temperature. He was obese and flabby.
He owned a fishing business. He was staying along with his two sons, a daughter, and wife. His father was helping him in his business, and his mother was a housewife.
Mr. RSK was very much attached to his family. Always, he used to worry about the health of his family. His daughter suffered from Juvenile diabetes, and this was the major reason for his stress.
After studying the case in detail, Dr. Shah prescribed Calcarea Carbonica 200 along with his research-based medicines.
In November 2016, the patient reported about 25% improvement in the hypopigmented spots on his fingers (knuckles). The spot over his left wrist had started becoming lighter than before. The patient did not observe any new spot after starting the treatment. After going through the follow-up, Dr. Shah upgraded the prescription.
In January 2017, the patient visited for a follow-up. He was satisfied with the treatment as there was around 90% improvement this time. The patient reported signification re-pigmentation in the spots over fingers of his both hands. The spots on his left wrist had also improved. Mr. RSK continued the medicines prescribed by Dr. Shah.
In May 2017, the patient reported further improvement in the vitiligo. Further re-pigmentation was seen in the hypopigmented spots. The patient is happy with the treatment received at Life Force and he is continuing the medicines for further recovery.
Conclusion:
This case highlights that, even though the spots were very challenging since they were located on mucocutaneous junctions, Dr. Shah’s research-based medicines helped the patient to achieve fast recovery from vitiligo.
