Mr. V. K. (PIN 8425) came to the clinic for the treatment of backache. He had severe lower back pain. He had an X-ray done of the lumbosacral spine. It showed early degenerative changes in the spine. Dr. Shah advised an HLA B 27 test, and it came as positive. He was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis.
Mr. V. K. was on painkillers and a brief course of steroids.
He had severe pain in the lower back since the last one year. He used to suffer from stiffness which was worse, especially in the morning. He used to experience severe pain and inability to walk for a few days. He was admitted to the hospital for two days. He was on three pain killers and muscle relaxants with antacids, which relieved him. His pain used to increase in the morning, on waking up, by taking a long breath, lying down, coughing etc.
He also had a calcaneal spur.
Mr. V. K. was stout, with a good built. He used to experience profuse perspiration, and he felt better in the winter. He disliked summer. He had a craving for salty food, and he would have extra salt in food.
He was of an irritable nature, but he would forgive. He was social. He would generally go out for tours. He had good relations with everyone.
He had stress in his business. He was a wholesale dealer of edible gum, and a big trader was trying to undercut him in rates. Mr. V. K. initially was at a loss, and his business went down and the goods were lying unsold. But, once he learnt about it, he took corrective steps. He said it is all like playing a game. This stress was the backdrop of his trigger for ankylosing spondylitis. He still has good relations with his competitor, whom he beat at his own game.
Based on these details, Dr. Shah studied his case systematically. Dr. Shah prescribed Calc Flour 30 C and Calc Flour 200 C in recurrent doses.
Mr. V. K. got a prompt relief in 4-6 weeks, and he steadily improved. His pain was considerably less.
In three months, his pain and stiffness had reduced to a good extent. He had discontinued all the painkillers. He was off the steroids and in eight months of the treatment, and he had no complaints of the spondylitis. He continued with the treatment for some time.
Mr. V. K. still follows-up for his wife intermittently, but he does not require treatment. His treatment was concluded after one year. There has not been a single relapse.
Conclusion:
This case highlights that homeopathy is highly effective in providing you a great relief from the pain and discomfort resulting due to ankylosing spondylitis safely without any side-effects.
